WT Flip-Flops on JesusÂ’ InspectionÂ… Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Why the hell do I feel like this suddenly?!?!
by freshstart intoday i saw a friend that is still a hardcore jw.
she knows we're not going to meetings, but seemed pretty cool with it and was willing to have lunch with me, so i thought why not?
she mentioned something about the convention coming up in a couple of weeks, and all of the sudden i got so nostalgic and felt like maybe i wanted to go.

The question wasn't: "Should I give in and attend the convention?"
The question was: "Why do I feel like this?"
Leaving gave the answer: Cult Mind Control
It doesn't just go away with time apart from the cult. You need to understand what was done to you by the cult in order to deconstruct it and destroy the cult personality they created completely.

I try to think positively.
The Borg has higher total numbers of publishers and hours today than ever. But think quality versus quality. Fewer elders. Fewer ministerial servants. Fewer intelligent speakers. Lower enthusiasm from the rank and file. More mental health issues in the congregations. Lower meeting attendance. More teens leaving.
Will there be some black swan event to destroy the Borg in one fell swoop? Not in one fell swoop, no.
BUT, a huge event happened that is killing the Watchtower slowly but surely: The Internet.

Please President Obama - save us from the Watchtower (religion)
by Fernando indoes society need to be saved from religion, or does religion need to be saved from society?
who needs protecting?.
mouseover: no religion.

Religion DOES hurt.
Individuals have every right to believe in whatever they like.
Organizations should have no right to manipulate the beliefs of individuals in dangerous harmful ways.
But in this country, organizations and individuals are treated basically the same when it comes to religious rights. Actually, organizations are given extra rights that the individual believer/worshipper do not have. Think of all the different tax freedoms religious organizations enjoy while religious individuals pay tax after tax after tax.

My Husband's Kids Have Cut Him Off
by headisspinning inwell, my husband's worst fear has happened.
he told his kids, ages 15 and 10 that he was coming to visit them over the holidays.
his ex-wife limits his telephone contact to one call per week, so when he called them last week to arrange the specific days he would see them, his son told him that he got baptized back in september and would no longer be willing to see his father.. this came as a complete shock.

I LOVE the suggestion to try to get court-ordered counseling for the kids. Deprogramming works. The only reason it isn't done more often is because a person usually can't force a loved one into counseling. A court order CAN. Heck, I'd try to get custody while you're at it. Hit them with the dangerous blood doctrine, the aggressive hatred of anyone non-JW, the passive ok nod toward wife-beating, the pedophile coverups, EVERYTHING. They'll thank you later.

I wouldn't confront the ex or the kids. I'd call my lawyer. But I have passive-aggressive issues.
Sorry this is happening to you. I love Leaving's Awake! quote. Good luck to you both.

Recent C.O. visit: Bad news re: U.S. English meeting attendance
by Open mind invisiting a nearby town during his thursday night service talk mentioned how poor meeting attendance is in the english-speaking u.s. congregations.
he said that when the gb reduced the weekly meetings from 3 to 2, there was a brief surge in meeting attendance percentages.
after a few months it began to slide and it hasn't stopped sliding.

Another thing that has hurt the meeting attendance count is a rule they're increasingly enforcing to get more people to the Kingdom Hall.
People who don't go to the meeting but who are connected by the telephone line are counted as being in attendance. BUT, the Borg doesn't like empty chairs at the Kingdom Hall so they made the rule that only people who are known to be elderly or ill get to call in to the meeting. People who are just tired or a little under-the-weather can no longer do so. This rule was made so that those tired/under-the-weather people would HAVE TO go to the Kingdom Hall. LMAO at the backfire. They're just not going OR calling in, and the count numbers go down even further.
A friend of my parents tried calling in to the meeting recently when not feeling well. Since she isn't on the list as one with an illness or being elderly, they turned her down and wouldn't connect her. She not only stayed home, she was pissed at the body of elders. The Borg is going to destroy itself.
By the way, isn't it a little late for yearbooks this year? I want to see the worldwide report.

Just curious, Bangalore. How did you find this thread and why did you resurrect it?
